The Honorable Deborah Pauly is a candidate for California State Assembly, 68th District, which stretches from Anaheim Hills, through Orange, Villa Park, Tustin, North Tustin, Irvine down to Lake Forest. She served two terms as Councilwoman for the City of Villa Park, California (Dec. 2006 Dec. 2014), and is currently serving her fourth term as an elected member of the Central Committee of the Republican Party of Orange County. Senator John Moorlach has appointed her as a voting delegate to the California Republican Party.
Councilwoman Pauly received the 2009 Woman of the Year Award for the 60th Assembly District from Assemblyman Bob Pacheco. The California Legislative Women’s Caucus sponsors the annual recognition ceremony in the Capitol each March as part of Women’s History Month. It is a rare distinction to be honored once, but Deborah was also named Woman of the Year for the 68th Assembly District in 2003 by Assemblyman Curt Hagman.
Over the past seven years, she has been a popular Tea Party speaker – known for blunt honesty, speaking the truth boldly and articulating a common sense approach to current political issues. She’s been a member of the Orange Republican Women Federated since 2003, having served as chairwoman for Local Issues and Educational Issues, as a member of the Scholarship Committee and as 1st Vice President for Programs. She served as Chaplain South for the California Federation of Republican Women in 2004 and 2005. On three separate occasions, she has successfully led opposition teams to defeat School Facilities Bond Measures, saving residential and business property owners hundreds of thousands of dollars in increased taxes.
Deborah is a summa cum laude graduate of Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications and a minor in Political Science. In 2005, Deborah was selected to participate as a Scholar in the Bergeson Excellence in Public Service Series, an Executive Training Program of the Republican National Committee to identify and train qualified women for elected or appointed office.
She is also a graduate of the Defense Information School and served active duty in the United States Air Force as a Public Affairs Specialist. In 1992, she established dp public relations in the Washington D.C. area and was the sole proprietor until 2001. She served as Executive Director, Public Relations, National Logistics Officer Association, 1993-2000.
Deborah has two gorgeous adult children and a really cute Pomeranian, Sir Winston.
